When should a dachshund puppy be weened
When should a dachshund puppy be weened2007-11-25 2:54:50
We just bought our puppy, and we're unsure on if he's been properly weened. Thanks!
Answers:Go see your vet and get something to uise as a cross-over. 6 Weeks (to me) is a bit young.
Before they are given or sold to their new homes all pups should be completely weened. No pup should be sold or give away before 8 weeks of age. If your pup is younger than this you may need help from your vets as to proper care.
What makes you think it hasn't been properly weened yet???
OK then he should be weened. It may just be that he is in a new home and a bit nervous. His appetite should pick up soon once he gets used to all his new suroundings. You can moistenhis food with a bit of warm water to soften it a bit so he can chew it better. He is still very young.
6-8 weeks old is proper weaning i believe. Make sure you feed him puppy food only! Check it on the net. Good luck!!
