The dog show dog judge will check your dog's tail to see if it is set properly according to the AKC standard for tail set. The tail must be carried over the body to the correct degree. Angulation of hind legs is checked and a check for the strength of the hindquarters is also made at this time. An indication of weakness when the hocks are lightly 鈥渢wanged鈥?or evidence of cow hocks would be noted as a fault in your dog. The hocks should be strong when moved gently back and forth. If your dog is a male, this is the point in which the judge will count testicles. There must be two testicles present or the male dog will be disqualified.

A lot of times, when you want to show your dog off at a dog show, they check to see if the animal has been neutered. From what I understand, in order to be a show dog, you cant neuter your pet. I hope this helps.

They are not looking for the butt hole, but they are checking to make sure that the dog is still intact (not fixed). Not all of the judges lift the tail, but it is much easier than reaching a hand down there and feeling for them. It can also be to check the set of the tail (how it is attached to the body) to make sure that it meets the standards of the breed.

They aren't looking at the dog's butt hole.. They are checking the dog's tailset.. Also to see how the dog handles being touched by someone, going over the dog.. and they are looking for two testicles.. Checking muscle tone in the dog and a whole bunch of things..

Butthole placement isn't mentioned at all in the standard..
