When we eventually go on to sell the pups,2007-11-25 2:54:07

if we don't like the look of the people who come to buy, i'm not selling. is this wrong? i would never forgive myself if the new owners were bad to them.

Hello,

Yes, go with your instincts but also ask them plenty of questions and gauge their response, as looking the part shouldn't be all that's required.

Ask about

Have they had a puppy before?

Do they have any other pets at home?

Who will be the main carer, how old are they?

For how many hours will the dog be on its own a day?

What arrangements do they have for when they are away for the day or go on holiday?

Do they have the funds to have the puppy vaccinated and taken to the vets whenever it needs treatment?

What would they do if the puppy was hard to house train, boisterous when playing, chewing on the furniture?

And as many others as you can think of!!

Provide them with as much information as you can especially which puppy feed you are using , your vets' details, and your contact details for any questions or problems that may arise.

I usually get a "feel" for people on the phone and will say at that stage that I don't think they would provide an appropriate home, but I have also turned people away when they have come to collect bunnies from me.
