When will my dogs labour start2007-11-25 2:54:07

Hi, My dog is just short of 8 weeks (i think, my dog might of got her a little earlier not sure ??) I have been taking her temp and today she has gone very quiet and has not eaten at all today her temp is up and down today ranging from 99.6 - 98.8, could this mean that she may be starting labour soon. ANy info would be appreciated, my last 2 litters from my other bitches had ceas due to complications before labour started. If anyone could give me some advise please.

Sounds like your pet is going into labor.Just keep an eye on her and place her in a large pasteboard box lined with newspaper,if she starts scratching around in box,she is in labor.After contractions begin and you see her pushing on each contraction,she should have a pup within 45 minutes to 1 hour.If contractions continue and no pups are born,you will need to call your vet.She may pass a bag of water before she does a pup,but this is just clearing the way for a pup to be born.When pup is born just leave her alone til you see if she is going to remove bag of water from head area,if she doesn't then you must remove it from head,or pup will drown in seconds after birth.Let her clean the pup up if she will.Good luck on your new litter.

She could normally if they stop eating and temp is going down they are going into labor. Usally within 24 hrs... Good luck with the upcoming arrivals

98.8 sounds like it to me. You should watch her from this point on labor may start with in 12 to 24 hours. If nothing happens then a quick call to your vet I think would be wise.
