When will the puppies be able to eat dog food2007-11-25 2:54:01

The puppies are having their teeth come in and it's hurting their mother, because when they eat she starts crying... Also what type of food will they be able to eat?

You can introduce them to puppy food mixed with a little water to soften it a bit around 4-5 weeks old.

well feed the puppies some soft food.. the kind that comes in the can. if it hurts the mother try putting the mother outside until the puppies get used to the dog food and that way they wont want their mothers milk anymore. sorry but thats the best advice i could think of

You have to start in baby steps.

Before you give them regular dog food, put some dry dog food in a bowl, add some water (or milk) , and put it in the microwave. When it cools off, give it to the puppies.
