Whenever I pick up my moms dog (hes a toy poodle) he growls at me Same with both my sisters What do
He is a male. He doesn't growl at my mom or dad. I think it's a dominance issue. We also have two other toy poodles. He was the first one we got.
Answers:Ha ha, very funny. In case you're looking for a serious anwer (I think you are):
It is a dominance issue. Does the dog know any commands? If so, you and your sisters need to put the dog through its paces, so it knows that he's not the boss of you. Give him commands several times a day (Sit! Down!) and insist on compliance.
If he doesn't know any commands, he needs to learn them!
If the dog absolutely refuses to comply, then your parents have to help out. They need to work with you and the dog until the dog understands that he's to take commands from everyone in the house. What needs to happen is this: you give the command, but only when a parent is there to enforce it. For example: you say Sit!, and your parent makes sure the dog sits. Keep doing this until the dog actually complies without assistance, no matter who gives the command.
Start with Sit! because it's the easiest, then move to Down! That one is harder because it requires the dog to put himself in a submissive position. Your goal, eventually, is to get the dog to "down" for you reliably and without balking.
Take them on a long walk down a short pier.
Stop picking up your sisters, then...who growls worse, them or the dog?
Well I can see why the dog growls at you, but I dont understand why your sisters would be growling at you. Give them all chew toys and lock them in the backyard. Problem solved.
He's being a brat and needs training. contact a professional trainer. It IS a dominance issue.
Some dogs do not like to be picked up by many people...and since your parents are the primary owners of this lil pooch, there is what I like to call."I know who my master is.don't bite the hand that feeds you".Just pet him, show him lots of love and leave the picking up to your parents.
1. Stop picking up your mom's dog.
2. Stop picking up both your sisters.
No picking up = no growling, right? Leave the dog alone. Leave your sisters alone.
Usually when a person picks up a dog. The dog growls at the person. It's because the dog doesn't want to be picked or bothered. In other words the dog is content right where it is at.
what kind of perf. would pick up his sister.
