Where can I find purebred labs to adopt in Sacramento area
try www.petfinder.com you can do a search by breed, gender, location, age and size. good thing is it pretty much will check between here and the bay area, and the central valley. i just did a quick check and there are tons availabl right now in our area. and not all of them are in the shelters a lot of them are in no kill shelters and in rescue facilities. be aware tho that some will be in temp homes and arrangements will have to be made to meet up with temp owners. i have a lab mix and she is the best dog, you won't be disappointed. good luck

I've gotten 3 that way.
Often there are "papers" and folks "give them up" after the small puppy stage, kids get tired of them, people move, get sick, etc.
Pick carefully though. You don't want to get strapped with vet bills for hips, ears etc.
Beware of not getting a real "problem child" that you don't want to deal with too.
2 y.o. Labs are only half way thru puppyhood. But they'd probably have the basics (like party outside) taught. May have playful biting habits, etc. that may take time to overcome.
The Sacramento SPCA on Florin Perkins Rd. I used to volunteer there and they always have Labs and Lab Mixes. It's a great place to adopt a pet too.
The best way is to find the local agency who handle pedigree dog registration for breeders. They will give your the breeder's number and address as most breeders in the state will have to register with the local agency.
There are lotsa benefit getting from a reputable breeder from local town agency.
1) The quality of breed line is reassure as the will have records of the blood history
2) You will able to evaluate the actual condition of the labs family tree (free from any disease or illness)
3) You have more choices to choose from as they have a litter of pups and dogs there.
4) Breeder will give you better discounts
5) Breeder will advice you on the needs and requirements of his breeds as he understand his dogs better than the new owner.
