Where can I get a free Labrador puppy from
I have a fostered and birth child living with myself and partner and we have talked extensively about getting a dog and our limitations/expectations etc and have all decided a Labrador dog would be best suited to our home and us.
How and where can I find a free dog,as finances are quite low (we foster for love not money).
Any help would be appreciated. We know how much work, time, love and committment a dog takes and have discussed all of this as a family.
Please try and help me. Ive tried petfinder, adopt a dog and other places...
Please post links so I can see if some I havent as yet found.
Thank you all so very much..
Leigh..xx
Answers:You are not naive. You want a free dog and it shall be a Labrador, which is about the best dog there is.
If you buy a female Labrador, her litter would be free, except for one puppy picked by the owner of the male.
As you have described your situation the way you did, I would suggest any dog of small or medium size. Labradors are big and they eat too.
The funniest thing is that you expect someone to offer you for free a pedigree Labrador. lol
Humane Society
go to the pound. it may cost a little money but you'll be saving a life.
^-^ good luck
Yeah try the Humane Society. Or it might be worth a try to check in the pets category of the classified ads section of your newpaper. Most of the dogs cost money but occasionally there will be ones that are free to a good home. Good luck!
I would always check the pound first, and explain how low on funds you are to them that by them giving you the dog for free, you are saving a dog's life, and its one less dog the tax payer's have to pay for to be put too sleep.. See, the reason the pound always charges for the dogs a small fee, is simply because when they get these dogs, they usually give them all of their shot's and neuter them, in which this cost's the pound money. So, this is why their's a small fee... But at some pounds the fee's are based on what you can afford, only. So, I would most definately go to them before buying one from a store, or through the paper..I have had two Labrador's and they are wonderful family dogs! So, your family is definately making the right choice for a good family dog!! Good Luck deciding on what to do..Smile!!!
Your local animal shelter would be the lowest cost, but there will be a fee. Or contact a local rescue group which specializes in labs. The link below should get you started. However, they will also typically charge a fee. But it may be worth it to get a known quantity.
go to the web and submit labrador retriever adoption
I don't think you will be able to get a lab for free (sorry) you may be able to find one at your local animal shelter, or pound. They will probably cost a little money but at a shelter they shouldn't be more that $300. I think the average shelter price is around $175-$225. Even if you did get a puppy for free, you would still have to pay for the food, vet expenses, grooming supplies, bed or crate, food bowls, leash, collar and toys. It sounds like any dog would love living with your family. Maybe if your finances are low you could talk to your shelter about fostering dogs for a while. (I'm just trying to give you some suggestions)
