Dogs are not something you should be looking for the "best deal" on. You get what you pay for, usually. (The exceptions being dogs gotten at a shelter)

You might find an older dog in a rescue for cheaper but alot of those dogs will have some behavioral problems. Most people who spend 1000 to 2000$ US dollars for one isnt really going to turn well adjusted Eng. Bulldogs over to shelters and rescues. The reasons these dogs are so expensive is that they can not breed, nor give birth naturally about 90% of the time. Because there heads and chests are so big almost all births are Cesarian and the breeders have to make up for the costs of the birth and breeding of the dogs. Its just one reason they are rare and hard to get.

The only place that you would be able to find one for under $1000 would probably be from a rescue. Bulldogs are a breed that you want to spend the money for and purchase from a reputable breeder, otherwise you will pay the difference in vet bills because of all of the health problems. Also, stay away from the adds for free Bulldog puppies that you just pay the shipping to get the puppy. They are scams, you will send them a money order for around $400 and never receive a puppy.

This is breed that must be bred by artificial insemenation and delivered by c-section and that is one reason they are expensive as it costs the breeder a bunch to even get pups on the ground.
