Here is your problem.If the price of one of these trendy puppies is an issue for you, than you'd better reconsider because the upkeep on them is going to break you. The spending only begins with purchasing your puppy. I'll use Yorkies as an example (I have 2 that weigh about 6 pounds put together), they need to be groomed professionally, and they are prone to hypoglycemia - an episode requires a trip to the vet. Basic vet bills are expensive, and the littlest puppies always need more care than most. Have you thought about the price of the monthly meds to keep a puppy flea and worm free? It is costly to care for a pet! Go into this with your eyes WIDE open!

If you're good at recognizing dog breeds, go to your local shelter or pound. Otherwise, watch local ads for giveaways. Many times, breeders have "accidental litters". These animals make perfect pets and why should they be "put down" just because they're not purebred. You'll be surprised what great companions these little"mutts" make. Of course, this is just from my personal experience.

Dogs are expensive. Period. Even if you get a so called "free" dog, nothing about dogs are affordable. My dog swallowed a chicken bone and she had to be operated on and $1500 later, we started not buying chicken with bones. Another of my dogs tore a ligament in her knee and that was almost $2500. My point is, if you are concerned about the money, don't get a dog.
