I would look in the paper every day for someone giving one away.

I would call the local animal shelter/pound and tell them to call you when they get a yorkie.

There are Yorkshire Terrier rescue groups all around the U.S.,you can do a Yahoo search of Yorkshire Terrier Rescue Dogs.

Don't know of anywhere you can get one free. Check with a vet in the area and with shelters. You might also try a Yorkshire rescue group. Be careful about ads in the paper and online for free puppies. There is a scam specifically with Yorkies where someone offers a free puppy in exchange for the cost of shipping. It turns out that the puppy is in Nigeria or another similar country. It appears that this is a new take on the Nigerian scams (see: http://www.snopes.com/crime/fraud/nigeri... for Nigerian scams).

yorkies are NOT free..you do not adopt them..you buy them. They can cost up to 3,000 dollars. If you do not have money then dont get a dog, especially a yorkie. They need to get groomed and shots and good quality dog food. Dogs are very expensive.

I'm in the same area as you (Southern California, that is, not Chino). It's really impossible to get a Yorkie for free! Please don't buy any cheap ones off the newspaper, a GOOD, healthy, purebred Yorkie will be $1000 or more. They are an expensive breed to maintain, and require a lot of time (you can't leave them alone all day - they are prone to hypoglycemic shock which will kill them), and the breed tends to have health issues which cost a lot to fix (luxating patellas, dental problems).

You can try your local shelter, they will most likely have a Yorkie crossed with some breed there. There is a rescue shelter with some Yorkies in California though, here: http://unitedyorkierescue.org/
