Where can i adopt a male maletese puppy in south florida2007-11-25 2:54:13

our 4 year old dog wants a play mate so we are looking for a "little brother" for him.

I don't know FL so you can see what shelters/rescues are in your traveling distance. I looked through the list quickly and I saw some 'small breed' rescues. A couple towns over from me in my state we have a "puppy rescue" where they rescue puppies from high kill shelters, if you find that kind of rescue you may just find a maltese pup.

And listen to the answerer before me, DONT buy from a petstore! I can tell you my story about buying my dog from a petstore when I didnt know better, but I'll spare you.

Do not buy from a petshop ! Look on petfinder or contact your local Maltese club for contact info for local breeders who test the parent dogs for health and soundness.

Adopt? Check with the National Maltese clubs for Maltese rescue or check petfinder.

Be wary of breeders on the net...many are disguised mills.

The one post listed a petshop.no reputable breeder would ever sell to a petshop.they'd never know who was buying their dogs. Most petshop dogs come from puppy mills !

The other post is an internet billboard...buyer BEWARE ! I have seen puppy mills advertise on their also. Some good breeders, but many who are backyard or mill breeders.
