Where can i locate a stud dog for my cocker spaniel ***** without having to pay a fortune2007-11-25 2:54:21

The National club or your local Cocker club should have info. on what genetic problems to worry about and what tests are the most important.

If you breed without the testing and have puppies you can be sued if you sell defective puppies and I'm talking up to adult dog age.

My friend's 2yr. old dog just had knee surgery on both knees, the breeder refunded her purchase price and if my friend had gotten a lawyer, the breeder would have had to pay all costs..over $3,000. Other littermates will probably end up with similar surgeries. They LOOKED healthy tho.

It doesn't matter if your female LOOKS healthy, Cockers are prone to many problems including PRA and if you don't know what PRA is, you should spay your female.

If you can't afford the stud dog price, you can't afford to raise a healthy litter. And you will be a back yard breeder.

Do it right or not at all !

Hello..if you can't afford the best ...perhaps you shouldn't breed, not including what vet fee's can cost of there are complications ..unless you can make a deal about giving them Pick of the Litter as stud fee's..but make sure their dog is of good stock too, just as yours has to be...it should all be on paper if it's a good, healthy dog !! Oh please don't breed more puppies. There are too many now in the world, pedigreed and not, that are dying (yes, literally dying) for homes.
