You say that there are no local shelters with chihuahua's near you, but have you checked everywhere? Did you try petfinder.com or do a google for a chihuahua rescue? In my area alone there are 4 separate rescue that deal with chihuahuas only. Sometimes they even have puppies. Most will help transport the animal to you if you live out of the area as well.
congrats on wanting a small dog, but they can be very nervous animals..and you have to be very careful around children and other pets. I dont suggest buying over the internet, you want to see who the parents are in person if at all possible. good luck....have you considered checking with your local vets or shelters?
DO NOT buy your puppy online! It is a really bad idea because you can get ripped off and never get your puppy. You are better off going to your local humane society and getting a puppy there. I am sure that you can get your small chihuahua there. But, never buy your puppy online.
NO PET STORES! Just type in Teacup Chihuahuas and your city and state and you should get a few results from GOOD BREEDERS! I wouldn't buy over the Internet either. That sounds pretty risky to me, but look at breeders websites. Then talk to the breeders and see if a Chihuahua is actually a good dog for you. Sure, they are cute, but don't make a rash decision about your companion for the next ten (or more!) years!
