Check on the AKC website. The list breeder referrals and breed specific rescues. I have seen several rescues that have Chihuahuas and other toy breed dogs.

Also, NEVER buy a puppy listed as a "teacup". The AKC standard for Chihuahuas allow them to be any size under, don't quote me on this, 9 lbs. (or somewhere around there.) Anyone who will try and sell you a puppy as a "teacup" is just using it as a marketing ploy and I wouldn't trust.

In most breeds, a "teacup" is used to refer to a puppy that is specifically breed to be undersized from breed standards. These puppies come from dogs that are usually the runts from their litters that are bred together to produce smaller and smaller dogs. Many are unhealthy and prone to die earlier than a dog that is in conformation with breed standards.

Get on-line and google Chihuahua puppies for sale. This is how we found our breeder for our Yellow Lab puppy.

We went to the the breeder and looked at the site and we bought our puppy there.

The site on-line should have peoples name that have bought puppies from them. Their site should have pictures of the mother and the father of the puppies. They should even have picture of the place where the breeder raises the puppies. Make sure the place is clean and the dogs look healthy. You should be able to e-mail people that have bought puppies from the place.
