Where should our outside dog have her puppies2007-11-25 2:55:04

If you dont keep her inside because of her size, they why did you get a Rottweiler? My friend lives in a 2 family house and has her huggee Rottie INSIDE with her.

If you have room in your yard, or on your property, maybe you could create some form of shelter for them so they are protected from the elements and other animals they may want to harm the babies. (depending on whether you live in the country or not). If she is used to being outside, she will probably be more comfortable there. You will DEFINITELY need to pay attention to the babies and mother. Make sure she is feeding them, and they are thriving, if not you will need to step in and feed them to keep them healthy
you could clear a space in the garage or make a shed or pop a large camping tent...it'd be good for her to make a sort of nest for the pups and the pups should have some sort of shade or cover but bringing them inside would create havoc---if you can't handle one dog in your house, how could you handle a whole litter until they are weaned?

good luck and congrats on the little ones

be sure to find them all good homes as earlier as possible

The neighbor probably doesn't want to listen to those precious puppies being, well... puppies.... Leave her outside where she's comfortable. More than likely she will not want to come inside and will give you fits if you move her from her normal environment.
Personally I would keep her inside while she has her puppies and until they are weaned, you never know what could happen when you're not looking. You could keep her in a small room and give her a bed so she can get used to it by the time she has her puppies.
Dogs belong inside, not outside, especially with puppies. Buy one of those kiddie wading pools to put them in, and the puppies won't be able to crawl out. Put them in a bathroom or something where the floor can easily be cleaned and they will also have privacy. After your dog has puppies, house train her and let her be inside with you, where she WANTS to be and will be the most use to you.
Hi; Because she is an outside dog leave her to what she knows best. She will do just fine with a little help from her human friends. I feel by bring her in the house she just might become very stressful and it could cause her not to look after the new born puppies. Keep a close eye on her but don't interfere with nature. She will let you know if help is needed.
