Which breed designations should I be careful of when searching to adopt a puppy2007-11-25 2:55:06

if you never had a dog before do not get an adult dog from a shelter.

if you never had a dog before just get a regular common breed dog. labs, cocker spaniels, golden retrievers are all good dogs

chows are not they are nasty and do not like other people esp children.

You know I dont see any Chow in that pup at all. I do see a lot of Lab. Maybe its just the angle they took the picture at.

I think the rescues and shelter do the best they can. You just have to be careful when choosing the right pup for you.

honestly it depends on what you are lookin for. if you have kids then you need to stay away from dalmations. i have had chows(boys) and i couldn't keep them together with a female, they are dominant. i can say that i like labs though, they are calm.

they arent lying about the lab part because i see lab all over that dog, but cow mabey so... well if you want a playful dog get a lab, if you want a "cozie" dog (one thaat curls up next to you and just hates to see you sad, get a miniature dauchsund.

Instead of searching by breed, my best suggestion to you is to actually visit the shelter and play with some of the puppies that they have. You should select a dog based on personality instead of breed. Besides, young puppies are not likely to be aggressive at such young age. If you get him when he is very young then he or she should be OK.
