While I have breed preferences, I define myself as a dog lover, not a breed lover. All the dogs I've had in my life have been different breeds. Generally, I've found mutts adopted from the shelter or rescue groups to be the best dogs - they are usually healthier (due to hybrid vigor) and have better temperments.

Whatever you decide to do, can I ask you to consider adoption over buying from a petstore or breeder? If you want a particular breed, all breeds have rescue groups that have dogs available for adoption.

Border Collie! I loved my dog, it was so smart, and mid-sized, just an all around good playful dog. Such a loyal animal. They are great with kids too!

personally, I LOVE my Boxer. He's affectionate and protective. He obeys me, he loves to play and go for walks. I love when i come home because he gets so excited. Just think, a big Boxer jumping on my lap and licking the crap out of your face.

I like muts. Especially lab muts. Always had the best experience with those dogs.

When I was growing up we had a huge Rottweiler. He was so sweet. A very good guard dog, a very good hiking companion, but not so good at cuddling with, except if I did the cuddling with him.
