Whether the dog has a shedding or non-shedding coat is an inherited, genetic trait, so pure-bred dogs are reliably one or the other. With cross-bred dogs you can never be sure. A lot of people now are mixing shedding and non-shedding breeds hoping to get puppies with the characteristics of a shedding breed, without the shedding. Beware of breeders that advertize "non-shedding" cross-breeds if they won't give you a guarantee, because, unless the dog is a little older, you can't be sure which genes it inherited from its parents.

I hate to say but it depends solely on the individual. I am not allergic to Malamutes but am deathly allergic to golden retrievers. I suggest that you check out different breeds and see how they bother you and don't go by what other people say, you would hate to get a dog that you think you won't be allergic to and then have to give it up. I am extremely allergic to some dogs and not others but I am allergic to poodles even though people say they are hypo allergenic. Good luck

MY DAD IS ALLERGY TO EVERY LIVING THING ON THE PLANET. NO JOKE! WE HAVE AN AIRDALE ANYWAY. ALL DOGS SHED BUT AIRDALES AND POODLES NOT AS MUCH. HOPE THIS HELPS.

My dad has allergies and cannot have a dog that sheds. We own a 3 year old Golden doodle (Golden Retriever and Poodle cross) and he is simply amazing. They are smart dogs and love people. Just a suggestion :)

None. All dogs shed and if you have allergies, they won't get better. I have seen too many dogs given to kill shelters because the child developed allergies, or someone thought they could deal with the shedding and couldn't.

i dont suggest an italian greyhound. i have one,he has seizures & i found out they are prone to them. also prone to broken legs.they can be fearful of people(other than the owner)mine is scared of everyone,,a fearful dog is a usually a biting dog. they are also VERY needy & clingy.
