Which dog is right for me
I work with dogs, and I'm familiar with all recognized breeds. Any breed that is good with children and fairly quiet would be a larger breed, and any breed that is easy to travel with and loving would probably be a toy breed, and therefore, inherently noisy and not good with small kids.
Why don't you try this: Post an edit, and order your concerns from biggest concerns to smallest concerns. It might be easier to pick a breed if you're willing to let at least one thing slide.
PS All the breeds the other answers gave are generally bad with kids (except a puggle which isn't really a breed, it's a mix) but cockers are the WORST they bite a lot especially if you grab at them like kids do.
the best dog would be a golden retriever those type of dogs like to play or a Chihuahua or a Boston terrier does dogs dont get that big
There isn't really a breed that meets all of those criterias. Most of what you mentioned has a lot to do with personality as well as breed. There are barkers in almost all breeds, and different individuals will be affectionate and want to be with you, while others will be more independant. Breeds are a great guideline, but it's not a guarantee that you are going to end up with that kind of personality.
I would go to a shelter and play with the dogs that are the size you like and see if you click. With barking, you can usually tell right away if they are going to be vocal or not. Almost all dogs will defend themselves if necessary.
