I would definatley go for the Golden Retriever or the Lab any day they are super playful in the water and on land. You could also use German Shorthairs they are water dogs too!
Labs and Australlian shepards for sure!! there are also the flat coated retrevers adn golden retrevers. they were meant for the water and also the dog breed to be in the water are nuffinlands..they have the coat...drive adn paws for swimming
When I was a kid we lived on a lake, and out of all the dogs we had during my childhood, the Black Lab and the Golden Retreiver loved water the best. They would run and jump off the end of the dock, and would play in the water for hours. We also had a Doberman, she didn't like to jump off the dock but she would stand in the water up to her chest.
Now that I'm an adult we have a Hybrid Wolf/Husky and he loves the water, too. He'll jump off the boat into the water and he's also really good with my kids.
Newfoundlands absolutely adore water. They were originally bred in Canada as water rescue dogs. They would accompany the fisherman in case someone went overboard. They are not for everyone though. They need a lot of grooming and they drool a whole lot. But I have three of them and they are wonderful. I never have to worry about my five kids with them either. They all do great!
