Which is a better family pet (last time i will ask this), a beagle or a cavalier king charles spanie2007-11-25 2:55:34

I have a beagle, and they go past stubborn. They are the hardest dogs to train, like, ever, and they always try to run away. They also have a serious howling problem, and it's one of those hound howls that you just can't ignore, and someone will call the police if they are howling outside (daytime) for like, 2 seconds. So, only get a beagle if you live in the country. And, as for being good with kids, any dog that is raised with kids can be good with them. And i've never heard of a bad KC spaniel, so i'd go with them, but do some research first.

I would think the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is the best bet. They're easier to train, so you'll have a well-mannered dog for your children to grow up with.

Beagles are not necessarily stubborn. As with most hounds, they are just aloof and kinda slow. They seem stubborn, because they can be difficult to train, but they just arent as mentally quick as spaniels or retrievers. They are a breed that relys more on instincts and senses than brain power. They also, in general, have a higher pain tolerance. It makes it harder to correct them, because they don't really mind a slap on the rump. With children, this can be a good trait. A beagle will tolerate more child like pinching pulling ect. Also, beagles really want to please their owners. They are just more aloof and not as quick to catch on.

I think you should get a beagle. Just be careful about their diet, they can get overweight.
