I think that they are pretty much equal. I have used both on my dog and prefer Frontline, but as I said, it's more of a personal choice. Sometimes one will work better than the other on a dog. The reason I prefer I prefer Frontline is because it seems to last longer and is more waterproof than Advantage.

From what I've gathered;

Frontline (plus) - kills ticks in 24 hrs. and waterproof

Advantix - Repells ticks and kills in 12 hrs. Also waterproof.

I live in a Lyme infested area. Frontline allows them to bit and infect with Lyme Disease before dying. Advantix may repell them before they bite and that's a plus in combating Lyme. I know, everyone doesn't have a Lyme problem. but for those of us that do, it may be worth considering. I'll be changing to Advantix from Frontline this year for that reason only.

I do not think frontline repels ticks. So if you don't want your pooch to get bit...frontline plus.
