Go to a local Humane Society. I would recommend helping an animal in need, and not getting an animal from a breeder.
There are also many rescue groups that help rescue dogs. You could try finding a dog from one of those places.

Of course it all depends on it's training. Dogs are like children in that regard - it's all in their upbringing!
if you want a well behaved dog it is important that you get it trained.
most dogs are messy and dirty lol ... some are better than others. and it doesnt always depend on its breed. it also depends on its personality, the way you treat it and its living conditons.
i personality love golden retrievers but they can be a bit playful. id recommend googling dog breeds and see which one is for you. good luck :)
Depends on your training. You need to tell them what is right, and what is wrong. They don't know that your $5000 couch is not a chew toy!
Some dogs are easier to train than others. Collies are one of the smartest dogs out there and will pick up on things fast. But again, everything really depends on your training.
