I can't choose between a Collie or a Golden Retriever. I think a golden retriever would be perfect but can't they be TOO friendly to strangers. I don't know if they are..

However all of my dogs are so friendly with strangers the strangers are scared to death. They bark and fight over who can get to the visitor first. The mail man was amazed once he finally saw what was behind the door. He made the comment they are fighting with each other in amazement. I tried to tell him they were never really interested ineating him.
Golden Retriever.
Goldens are people magnets. They love everyone and everyone loves them. My husband has one as a guide dog and we can not keep people away from him. Collie are from my experience and I could be wrong, more stand offish. They are not mean but they perfer to get to know you a little before smoozing with you.
It just depends on how you raise them. My choice would be a Golden Retriever though. Good Luck deciding. :)
Golden Retrievers are wonderful companions, and love everybody. They will protect their property though, if that's what you're concerned about.
Collies are more reserved, but still wonderful dogs.
collies are smart, but like to herd kids. this will result in nipping.
