Which shot do you give first to a dog 8 in 1 or 7 in 12007-11-25 2:55:40

I just got a puppy, he's six weeks. I went to my local feed store and got the shots, one is an 8-in-1, the other a 7-in-1. Which do I give first??? (and yes, I'm a trained professional at giving shots...Own a cattle ranch and give shots all the time)

Puppy shots are normally a five way. To be frank, the only concern for pups is parvo, distemper and rabies. You don't need the others unless you are a city dweller and board your dog frequently (ie: coronavirus, kennel cough...)

Also, don't assume the first one or two shots will protect your pup. The antibodies from the dam's milk will fight the first few.

Find a lower in one shot a three in one is best. The 7 in one if you have to because there is a possibility of a bad reaction with the higher. Try to seperate the shots because a bad reaction will cost more $$ the the seperate shots.

Giving shots to cattle does not make you a trained professional. I know, because several generations of my family have been involved in farming and raising cattle and such. You have to realize that even within the field of veterinary medicine, there is a HUGE difference between large animal medicine and small animal medicine. Has a trained vet shown you exactly where to insert the needle? if not, you need to talk to one or go to a low cost vaccination clinic. If you aren't willing to do that, you need to at least call a vet office to ask if you should give the 8 in 1 or 7 in 1 first-this is your dog's life and well-being-certainly not something ot mess around with.
