Male dog - they are more playful, you can play ball with them for a long time and they get really into it.

Having had 3 male dogs and 2 female dogs, I prefer females as pets. They are cleaner, make excellent watch dogs and do not have the need to mark their territory.

the male marks but is always better looking .female don't mark but have heats and what a mess .a male lab is much more easily trained the female is wacky for the first three years then they are wonderful .i am a male dog owner but like you i ah=have owned females i prefer males

It depends on your personal experience with each type/sex dog. Each breed even has their own unique personality dependingon female or male. Also it depends on type of lifestyle that determine which might be better for you.whether you have kids, are you old and need quiet time, do you have other pets, are you single, etc. And I think you answered your own question there on which you prefer.

You must be about 90 yrs old! I've only owned 4 dogs in my whole life (rapidly approaching 50)! I prefer females. The only male dog I've ever owned was a real renegade. He never stayed home...brought all sorts of junk with him when he did come home...
