Doesn't the decorator make enough money to at least call for a pizza for heavens sake?! How hard up is this person to fight a poor hungry puppy for a snack?

If it came from the decorator's lunch box, then he does.

Why is he sulking? Why doesn't he make a new one?

The dog. There is an unwritten law which states that everything you own belongs to your dog. It goes something like this:

The Dog Rules:

1. If I can see it it's mine

2. When I have chewed it up, all the bits are mine

3. If you bring it into the house, it's mine.

Hi,

you've already got several answers which may help you decide..but...legally, if the decorator had your permission to use the materials and bread from your fridge to make the sandwich, then he would have the right to the sandwich as he had invested the effort of making it.

If, though, as I believe, the decorator did not have your express permission, the foodstuffs used belong to the house, and to you, and, as the only resident at the time, to your dog.

You could sue the decorator for using your foodstuffs far easier than he could sue you for your dog eating the sandwich he made.
