Okay so the show is great and is so informative. But when i do the training techniques in public i get weird looks, ive even had an old lady call the police when i tried his "pinching the back of the neck" she though i was trying to choke my dog...
Anyone had similar problems? What do you think of the Dog Whisperer?
Answers:I like the show and catch it when I can, but I do think Cesar can be a little bit weird at times.
I think he's just really happy and excited about the work he does.
I love it! i think im almost like him! I LOVE DOGS!!!
tell those other people to mind there business. the dog whisperer knows what he's doing. i've never had problems with his technique.
I love watching The Dog Whisperer. If you have ever seen when he is standing and tries to correct the dog with his foot, Well I have tried that in public so I didn't have to bend down and I made a quick noise, but I felt so weird because I didn't want anyone to think that I was hurting him because I wasn't. haha.
Does it not say on the program not to do the techniques without a trained dog professional with you.
No and I think he is brilliant. You should also try using one of Cesars main function such as a nice quiet place to train. Heck with the ole batt she has dementia.. just kidding
I think the name of the show is a little misleading but is a great show and I feel like he really knows what he is talking about...most of what he does is train the owner which those in rescue and other animal related fields know is usually the problem !! Keep following his advice, it may give you the chance to educate others not so informed!!
The same thing happened to me when I was trying to discipline a lab I once had.
Did you realise that on the show it was stated that do not try the techniques shown unless a trained professional is present?
I don't like the show. I don't think he is all that great.
Actually Ceasar is right on with is techniques, however, he isn't the orginal dog whisper. The original Dog Whisper book was written back in 1999 and then later came a book called the Dog Listener. Them along with Ceasar and the Monks of New Skete, all follow the same science in dog training, the way of the pack, but the Monks of New Skete and Ceasar actually are more on the side of problem dogs. And believe it or not, this all originated from one source. Thats right, the Horse Whisper is the one that began all these new techniques. What I recommend, read each of the books and I will leave links below for them all. See what works for you. Also, make sure that if you are ever confronted with a situration involving the police, take the ticket, and when you go to court, present the books as evidence to what you are doing. Otherwise, I would leave the "pinching" for at home or in a training environment, not in a park.
I've never watched the show but have read his book.
