***It could be like you said they may have a higher demand for females in your area. Males mark there territory at times and female yorkies who are fixed will never do that. Also most females yorkies are smaller then the males.

Well, a lot of breeders charge more because they think you are going to breed the females and make a bunch of $ off of the puppies so they think they need to charge more.

The females I've purchased have been more expensive, though I got them fixed when they were 6 months old.

People that sell full breed dogs think of the dogs as money makers a lot of times, but not all of the times. (Please, no offense to you all that are terrific breeders!)

It holds true for most breeds, because a lot of people use females to supplement their incomes by breeding the females and selling the puppies. Not something I agree with, but it is done. Breeding should be done responsibly for betterment of the breed and not endangering the female by overbreeding her.

cause if they do end up breeding, the girl will be the ones to deliver.. meaning she is more valuable.. the guys just provide the spirm and the girls actually are the ones that take care and have the kids

Charging more for a female is a sign that the breeder is a backyard breeder or puppymill and they assume you are going to breed the female and sell the pups. A responsible breeder will have a clause in the contract stipulating that you spay/neuter your pet before it reaches a certain age.
