There is also a possibility that your dog is having a false pregnancy. This happens in young dogs, especially if they have mated but not concieved. The only way to tell for sure is to get her to the vet. While you are there, you should get them both fixed. There are low-cost spay and neuter programs all over the country. The only way she can develop milk is to be preggers. Their nipples do not just "grow". If u are not smart in the breeding department for animals, I would suggest giving the animals to someone who knows what they are doing.

My female dog developed large nipples when she went into her first heat. She has never been pregnant. She was about a year old when that happened. Female dogs will bleed for a week or two when in heat and can get pregnant 4 to 6 weeks after that! So, if your dog goes into heat, keep her away from other male dogs for about 6 weeks after she stops bleeding. Wait until she is finished with her heat cycle to spay her.

Dogs can begin breeding as soon as 9 months old but it's not good for them at that age. They should be spayed or neutered before they ever get to that age. If you have two that are not fixed and over that age (and that's just an average, it can be sooner) then you have a litter of unwanted puppies on their way that will probably end up in the pound which is sad. Our shelters are already way too overpopulated for people to not spay or neuter their pets. The only people who should be breeding are responsible breeders who know what they're doing. I know you say you got them from someone but that doesn't take away from your responsibility to make sure they can't make puppies.
