Why are people saying that dogs need titles
If your dog wins a championship, that truly means that it is purebred breeding quality. Everything is assessed, temperament, build, health, coat, teeth, eyes, and so on. That means it has a superior quality, and if this superior dog is bred with another superior dog of the same breed, it is likely that they will produce superior offspring with minimal health problems, miminal temperament problems, and the same build, coat, etc.
Many people think that Championships only assess looks, which is not the case. You want a beautiful dog, yes, but you also want one with little to no health problems and one with a good temperament, all of which are inherited.
Also, it helps to see the pedigree, what dog won what and what health problems it had, etc. Then you can successfully start to breed the negatives out.
That is proof by a legitemate organization that they are purebreed. The origional point of shows was for breeding, so it is mostly tradition. Field excercises, or whatever it is called does not require it.
Well, I answered a couple of those and what I said is that if you want to be a respected breeder, of German Shepherds, you should get their SCHUTZHUND titles. IF you are a true German Shepherd lover, fan and breeder, you should try to breed with the same standards of Germany. Otherwise, you are just breeding the same old pieces of **** we see here in America every day, especially those ones they show on the yearly dog shows. I have seen female dogs that have looked more masculine then the last two male German Shepherds they have had on there. Also, in order to get your SCHUTZHUND titles for German Shepherds, you have to get the hips and elbows certified. So you are killing 2 birds with one stone. You don't have to agree with me, put here is a link that can help you understand why.
Because the majority of dogs that exist today were bred to be working dogs. Labs, goldens, hounds, border collies, German shepherds, terriers, Rotties, etc were NOT ever meant to simply be show dogs with fluff between their ears but meant to do a job and do it well. This is what was bred. Now, not everyone can logistically have a flock of sheep for their Aussie or border collie to herd or can run down a deer with their wolfhound or deerhound, so we have the sporting events to preserve some of the working ability, so agility for the Aussies, Schutzhund for the German shepherds, lurecoursing for the deerhounds, and Earthdog for the terriers.
