Why are people so hateful against pitbulls2007-11-25 2:55:43

I have been reading about pitbulls in this PetQnA.com , and I am so ashamed of all the people who discriminate American and Staffordshire Pitbull Terrier.

It is the way the dog is raise, not their blood. And to a girl name Jennifer in PetQnA.com to say they should not be breed, and should be extinct is the cruelest thing ever.

Are you guys racist, against black,asian, mexican, indians and white?

Are you sexist?

Why are you hating on dogs, man most loyal companion?

Pitbulls have been around for centuries, use in police, military combat, rescue dogs.

I saw a clip yesterday, where a man(matador I think ,It was in spanish) was trying to calm or tame a bull, where the bull charge at him and stab him with his horn, then out of nowhere a pitbull came in and start biting the bull and distract him so the man would run away. It was scary because the pitbull was hanging from the bull neck and the bull was swing him like crazy. But the pitbull stood there until the bull was calm.

Because people are uneducated, uninformed, only believe what they hear on the news, or just plain dumb. I'm a pit bull owner, and I had a hard time finding a place to live. They characterize her as an "aggressive breed". I've also had to deal with plenty of dumb questons, people backing away when I tell them what she is, even though they were just petting her and she was licking their faces.

It's irritating, it makes me angry, but the only thing I can do is be a good owner, be informed, and try my best to inform people that obviously don't know any better.

Circus man P.T. Barnum is famous for a saying, "There's a sucker born every second", which means that there are a LOT of gullible people out there who'll believe anything they're told, especially if it comes to them via the news media. The news media love a dirty story, and with the help of their pals in the Animal Rights movement, have created a monster, and that media monster is the "Pit Bull". Virtually ANY and EVERY dog that bites, growls, looks menacing to somebody, hurts or chases another animal, pees on someone's car tire, or does anything else bad is reported as a "Pit Bull", even if it does not even look remotely like one! To make matters worse, those dregs of human society who are part of an under-culture of violence and abhorance of authority embrace all that is considered dangerous, or bad or violent, so they are attracted to the notion of dogs with "locking jaws" or "immunity to pain", whether it's true or not, and tend to get dogs and abuse them to MAKE them vicious. Very often these are stolen pets, of unknown breed origin, but telling your peeps that you have a mutt doesn't get you any respect, not like telling everyone that you have a Pit than can kill any dog on the block and bite through steel pipes! So, when one of these abused animals gets loose and really hurts someone, the blame is never put on the person who made the dog that way on purpose, but on an entire type of dog. I have actually seen photos of some of the so-called "Pit Bulls" that were involved in fatal attacks on humans, and many of these dogs have no resemblence to the American Pit Bull Terrier breed at all, or to each other, for that matter, but nonetheless, when the attacks are reported, they all automatically become "Pit Bulls" or "Pit Bull mixes". The latter is a popular catch-all phrase used by the news people and animal control people(NOTE: do NOT assume that animal control officers know a Pit Bull when they see one, or can identify breeds by looks alone, since they often cannot)to denote a really, really mixed-breed dog, under the assumption, "well, it hurt/killed somebody, so it MUST have some Pit Bull in it SOMEWHERE".
