Why are so many pit bull owners in denial about the breeds high prey drive and animal-aggressive ten2007-11-25 2:55:44

we do know about breeds and personality and traits. we are not in denial. we do not appreciate our loved breeds (pitbulls are not the only stereotypical dogs) insantly being treated as if evil.

my dogs have not killed any other dogs. when they do they will face concequinces.

my German Shephard I had years ago was much more aggresive than my current pitbull.

all dogs are just that, dogs

sorry you feel that way. i do not own a pit, but any unsocialized dog is a terror. i certianly hope you strive to higher standards for yourself, by educating yourself before you slander an entire breed. If you socialize the dog, and treat it with the respect it desrves you will get a well balanced dog. Unless it has a medical problem or poor breeding. Also, there are ways to reduce prey drive.

I have never really thought about that, but it is a very good point.

People feel that they have to reassure themselves thwat they have to best kind of dog, so instead of trying to prove something to other people, they are just proving something to themselves. also, they might love their Pitbull's tempermant, and of course, all pitbulls are different, so there ae some wonderful pit bulls, so they want people to think that they have the best dogs, and what they really are trying to say is 'my pit bull has no bahavoir problems' when they are really sating 'all pit bulls have no behavior problems'... to try to prove themselves.
