My point is, we have to ALL think for ourselves. Not every pit is going to be dangerous, and there are going to be dogs that are 'known' to be great family pets that are more aggressive than a pit!

EDIT:

puppyluv has my vote. :]

you are right!! My husbands brother has a pit bull that is very loving and kind, TO PEOPLE, but he has nearly killed our Jack Russel and Great Dane for no specific reason. When playing around gets a little rowdy, Pitts start taking things very seriously and once they lock their jaw, you have to almost kill them to get them off the other animal (especially if they have tasted blood before).

P.S. My husband's family have been devoted Pitt Bull owners and breeders for many years and they love the breed.. and they know the facts about them, they have an incredibly dangerous strength in their Jaw and this makes them very, very dangerous...of course they are not all the same and it does make a difference on how the owner treats them, but face the fact (and there is plenty of evidence to prove it) Pitt Bulls are a breed that should be taken into much of consideration before deciding if the breed is right for you.

This website I feel lays it out pretty well. All breeds have their characteristics and responsible owners know what they are and how to manage them.

We have 2 pitbulls, and have had no problems with them. We also have a cockerspainel/sheepdog mix. she's the mean one. Our male is a character, he likes to pull what we call the flying marmaduke on our friends. There is nothing wrong with this breed except the fools that want them for fighting. All dogs have prey drive, it's in their blood. Pit's just don't need the extra push. Our are treated as members of the family, that's the way we like it. And if they do get a bit out of control, Mom's belt works nicley on their backend. let's just say when they see the belt, they go lay down and stay.
I have never heard pit bulls described as having a high prey drive. Huskies, malamutes, and german shepherds - now those are dogs with high prey drives. Cats, ducks, rabbits, goats, basically any small pet is on their menu.
