Pits also have a bad name because bad dog owners want tough, mean spirited, badass dogs (mostly Pit Bulls). They are happy to own such animals, and they train them as such.

Folks who are tired of Pit Bull bashing could be more productive if they would start on bad breeders and bad owners of Pit Bulls, rather than the people who fear them.

Well, I guess until you get attacked by a Pitt Bull you wouldn't know how I feel. I knew this Pitt all of his life and he loved being around me when I went to visit my neighbors on a weekly basis with my dog, and one day my dog (Yellow Lab) and I were walking down the say rout we always take when I get off work, and out of nowhere, the nice, lovable Pitt I knew came and attacked my dog and I before we'd even reached his yard. I had to receive 12 stitches in my hand and 7 in my leg. My poor harmless lab had to receive antibiotics, but they could not stitch his wounds up because the puncture wounds were too deep. This happened last Saturday and we're still healing from the whole thing. My dogs attitude and temperament haven't been the same since and I believe we're going to have to take him to a dog behaviorist because of this.

That is why I think it is even ridiculous to even think of choosing this kind of dog for a "Family Pet!"

I love both breeds.

Chows are the cuteset puppys that have ever been born. They are great dogs but I can not live with the hair and grooming so I don't have one.
