If this guy is lying, he may also be the kind to try and sue you. Another reason to talk to attorney. An attorney can get any medical records for any treatment the guy sought and take it from there.

In the future, the best thing to do is to make sure your dog is under your control at all times.

You need to check the laws where you are. I'm sure the person would have needed something that at least looked like a bite before they could take your dog. Maybe he was bitten by another dog and thought your dog would bite him too?

You need to get investigating what your rights are. Myself I would be on to my lawyer too.

Pretty much thats what that means. Dallas are such a**es anyways. Since you have all his shots and such everything should be fine. Did anyone else see the incident that could be a witness? Dallas usually Quartines the animals for 10 days and then release them back to you. I would call the court and request a court date ASAP!!

Hello.CALL YOUR VET, he will know the answers, if your dog has had all his shots & is up to date on them, this shouldn't be happening in my opinion, tho I don' t know Texas laws, as long as you have proof of everthing, there is no reason to quarintine your dog & if there is..you can do so in your home...which is what they did for the dog who bit our kid ( we didn't know the dog ) but it was a savage bite, not a scratch & sounds to me like this guy might be thinking you have money & is looking for an easy few bucks so don't be surprised if next he tries to sue you ...I would not allow them to quarintine, no way, your vet can do it too, Lord knows what your dog could end up exposed to, I would ask my vet to do it if they won't allow you to do so !! Well for one, if they have rabies papers they shouldn't take him. Two, the guy wasn't hurt. Basically they shouldn't be taking your dog.

The police officer who spoke to you was misinformed. If you can provide the paperwork from the vet proving that he has been vaccinated and the vaccine is up to date, they cannot take your dog for quarantine. Quarantine is only needed for dogs with no vaccine records. Also, you CAN require them to force the guy to be seen by a doctor and have the 'bite' assessed- they can't do anything if there's no report from a doctor.
