Different breeds have their tail docked to meet the standards for that breed, IE Boxers, Doberman Pinchers, Corgis, Rat Terriers, Schnauzers, Poodles, etc. Some of these breeds have had their tails docked because they have short hair. When the dog wags the tail it can act as a whip, and sometimes breaks open the end of the tail which bleeds readily. Some have had their tails docked to balance out the dog for looks. Others such as the Terrier group have tails docked due to their hunting instinct and going to ground after prey. There's many different reasons for docking tails, the same thing applies to ear cropping. It's done for aesthetics, breed standards, and to keep ear infections and mites away. A drop or pendulum ear has more ear infections and mite infections. Some of these alterations go back decades.

they either like the way it looks or even worse, they plan to use their dog for fighting...I don't believe in cropping ears or tails. poor dogs, they don't get a vote.
