Why do dogs eat grass
They just like it and it does NOT mean they are sick.
Dogs eat grass for a few reasons mostly, to help them fully digest food and prevent an upset stomach. They will also eat it when they are bored. It is common for dogs to eat grass because of the type of food they are fed. In the wild, wolves eat anything and everything that they catch and kill including the intestines, muscles and fat of their prey. There are nutrients used for digestion in those parts that aren't naturally found in many dog foods. So, dogs eat grass to compensate. Grass does not replace the nutrients but instead gives a variation of them.
dogs chew on everything in sight, so when you take a dog out to walk they will more than likely chew on the grass.
To keep there system regular, it works like fiber supplements to a dog's system.
because they have a stomach ach
Dogs eat grass due to an upset stomach... It helps them either throw up or sometimes poop and clear their system. Something with the grass helps their stomach...I'm not sure what exactly in the grass that helps but I know its to soothe the stomach
I think it is to induce vomitng if they feel unwell
Dogs commonly eat grass, and there are several explanations that have been offered for this behavior. One, wild canids (e.g., wolves and fox) eat all of an animal when they catch it. Since they eat many herbivores (plant-eating animals), they end up eating a lot of grasses and plants that were in the intestines of these animals. In addition, they have been known to eat certain berries and other plant material. Dogs then, may eat grass because, in reality, it is a normal part of their diet.
Many times, dogs will vomit after eating grass. Did they eat grass to make them vomit? Or did they vomit because they ate grass? It is a mystery, but it seems that some dogs may eat vegetation when they have an upset stomach.
The third reason - they just like it. Some dogs have certain species of grass or plant material that they will search out and eat. We know a beagle who can pick raspberries faster than his owner.
In any case, grass eating is basically a normal behavior, and is not of concern unless your dog does it excessively.
