I have an Alaskan Malamute that keeps eating grass. Shortly afterwards he will throw it up.
Answers:It's tasty.
Dogs eat grass for many reasons - they sometimes sense a deficiency in their diet (real or imagined) which compels them to eat the grass. Sometimes they just like to eat grass. A dog's digestive system is sensitive to roughage and the vomiting is due to irritation of the stomach and duodenum, this is a normal reaction, and as long as your dog is eating and drinking normally otherwise and is not listless or inactive, I wouldn't worry.
From what I understand, they do it to purge. Clean out the system, possibly bringing something up that isn't sitting well with their stomach.
my puppy eats grass when i take them outside people say it cleans thier stomach but later throws it up or he has an upset tummy
I have heard that dogs eat gras when they have an upset stomach. I have seen my own dog eating grass when she was being picky and didn't want to eat her food.
sometimes its because they want to throw up. maybe his stomach hurts or something.

Dogs eat grass like we take Pepto Bismol. If their stomach is upset eating grass usually causes them to vomit which makes them feel better. You'll often find grass in what they have regurgititated.
They just like it and it does NOT mean they are sick.
