Why do dogs enjoy chasing motor cars/bikes/buses or any moving thing that can squash them flat
Is it a case of either,
There too silly to know better,
Its an ego thing, look at me chasing this big thing off,
Just for fun,
Or some unknown answer
Answers:Dogs, and other predators, have an instinct to run after things that are moving away from them; it's part of hunting and defending territory. It's one of the reasons that if you are confronted by, say, a bear while you are hiking, it's best not to run, because the bear's instinct is to run after you, and he can go about 45 mph.
I imagine dogs also like the thrill of running flat out as much as some people do for the same reasons -- the rush of adrenalin and other brain chemistry changes can feel exhilarating.
Dogs are animals and animals have instincts (its a living in the wild thing).
One of them is to defend their territory and the other is to run after things kill them and eat them.
I am not sure which category cars fall under, but a dogs instincts don't extend to a knowledge of motorized vehicles, so they just do what makes sense to them. Even if the results can be fatal.
Because its natural for them in the wild to chase animals & there are no animals for them to chase in the suburbs, you should have a fence so they can't chase cars etc if they are your dogs cause it is neglect if you don't
The movement activates their prey instinct. Dogs naturally run in packs to chase and catch food. Of course, they seem to have no idea that they can't eat a car! It's just the fun of the pursuit that excites them.
Dogs usually like chasing balls n stuff soo cars are really no different for them
i thnk evn i dont but to b a bit stupid i thnk dogs might be jealous dat da vehicles are faster than them!! :D
It 's the noise from the tires that they don't like. Notice when they are chasing a car,it's the tires they are barking at.
Because they have idiots for owners who are not protecting them from the dangers of moving vehicles. All dogs should be contained in a fenced in yard for their own safety and for the safety of drivers. Dog's chasing cars and motorcycles cause many accidents yearly and kill a lot of pets whose owners then cry about it and it's their own fault.
If you truly love your pets you wouldn't let them be in this dangerous situation. I say if you can't contain your dogs in a safe yard, then get a hampster instead of a dog!
It's the hunt gene. Sometimes when they are close to it it;'s a protective thing, they don't want it near their owner.
