Why do dogs lift one paw when they smell something
Why do dogs lift one paw when they smell something2007-11-25 2:55:19Answers:
Really?
I never heard that.
I never noticed that.
My dogs lift their paws to paw me or others when they want more petting... it's their way to say please.
When my dogs smell something, sometimes they raise their ears to pay more attention and investigate what's out there.
What they dont
Checking if it's themselves they are smelling.
Hunting dogs, etc, are trained to I think. Other than that, maybe because they're getting ready to run after it?
my dog does that sometimes.maybe he isn't doing it for the smell maybe he's begging.
That is an easy question to answer.
Because we breed the dog that do, and don't breed the dogs that don't.

If you want your dogs to lift one ear instead of lifting one foot, we could breed for that too.
