they are usually accross my legs or rolled in a ball on my chest , i was just wondering why they would do this ?

They think of you as part of the pack and want to sleep with you. You need to set boundaries and not allow them to do that.
its bcuz they like u a lot and u r a good owner and also, the probably do want to protect u :)
LOL, I am not sure, but I have cats that do the same thing. I am sure they are not trying to protect me. One even sleeps right on my head!
By nature, dogs sleep curled up together.
As for the chest, it's so that they can hear your heartbeat. They get relaxed by this. :)
Also, there's body warmth which they find comforting. My Maltese likes to sleep on my bed near my legs, but I guess I keep on kicking her by accident...lol she doesn't want to sleep there anymore. xP
Nah, if you have ever seen puppies, they sleep in a big snuggly pile, all intertwined and very very close. They see you as part of the litter and are sleeping as is natural for dogs to do..
Several reasons. The bed is soft. You are warm. You are Cuddly. They love you and want to be close. They want to make sure they are the first to sense danger and are guarding you. Aren't they cute?
Because you're warm and they consider you one of their litter mates. One of my dogs sleeps curled up next to me during the cooler months, but in the summer she wants to sleep on the floor.
You are not the alpha in this group - they sleep in your space to prove it. It is also a nice warm spot for sleeping - but if they respected your dominance they would not do this.
Because that is how Shih-tzus are. My 2 sleep curled up next to me with their heads on my legs or curled up on my pillow with their head across my neck, Shih-tzus LOVE to snuggle. My labX is happy sleeping on the floor next to my bed.
They love you and you take care of them. To them your where the food is coming from so they treat you like a queen.
Protections lol Shih Tzu's don't know a stranger..They think everyone loves them. I had a kid rob me last year and all eight of mine greeted him as a long lost friend. Shih Tzu loves people they closer they can get to you the more they like it. Their main goal in life it to cuddle and they will do that. They just want to be close to you..They feel safe with you and there is nothing better than a love of a Shih Tzu. When you look at them with eyes of love and you couldn't hold a grudge that is because you think they are to wonderful to criticize or judge. A Shih Tzu plays on that..They are to cute for their own good. Enjoy them cuddling with you , nothing wrong with that.
Your dogs are claiming your territory. They don't see you as leader of the pack. If I want a lie-in, I invite my dogs onto the bed, but it takes about a week to get them back into their normal routine - so I've got to really want that lie-in!
