Why do people crate their animals when if they trained them properly they would never have to2007-11-25 2:55:54

In case of an emergence (Fire) you know right where your pet is. In one case that I know of it saved the pets life, there was a window sticker that advised firemen where the pet was. I am sure that there have been other cases as well.

The only time I put my dog in a kennel is when I have to leave home. My dog is only 3 months old though. I don't trust her with the chewing thing yet.

But you are right! I had three dogs in the house at one time and they could go up to at least 10 hours before they would have to go potty outside. They never had to go more than 4-5 hours except a few times.

They never bothered anything in the house . They where sweet hearts.

No behavior problems. They did not know what a crate was. I had two of my dogs sleep with us. The other would sleep where ever she wanted to.

I hope my puppy will be as good.

It is all about taking the time to train your dog!!! Train it right the first time!!!

A "properly trained" dog when you are around can become a walking one dog wrecking crew when you leave if the dog has anxiety issues. The anxiety should be treated, because just crating a dog who is scared out of their mind, because your precious house might become in disarray without actually treating the anxiety is just cruel to the dog. Imagine being terrified, and then being stuck in a cage to have nothing to do but contemplate how scared you are.
