But they conveniently forget that part. What is the fdifference between that and the cage breeders and the SPCA keep their dogs in since they live in there? NOTHING.

On the contrary, crate training your dog is properly training them. Their crate is their room. It is where they can go to take a nap, get away from their pesky siblings (and owners), feel safe and secure, and yes, be sent to when they are acting out. The crate is the best way to housebreak a puppy.

My two dachshunds both have crates, each one with nice soft pillows with attractive covers, blankets to burrow under, and open doors so they can come and go at will. When we leave the house, we move the crates to the livingroom so they are by the front door. This ensures that they see us leave and return, also, in the event of a fire, heaven forbid, the firemen could get to them immediately. They are locked into the crates when we are gone for their safety.

We also have a traveling crate, with pillow and crib bumper pad in it, with covers that match thier home crates, for traveling in the car. We leave the door to that open while it is in the house so they can freely go in and out of it. It fits on the backseat of the car, and can be safely seatbelted in. They enjoy the comfort and safety of traveling in it.

If you love your animals, you crate train them. This gives them a feeling of security, and lets them have their own room. I do draw the line at letting them put up posters.
