Why does dixie only nip at certain people
I have a pound dog got her at 8 wks old she is now 6mths, she nips and runs at certain people (never kids so far she just kisses them but I dont know if I can trust her it takes only a sec for someone to get bite) she is very overprotective of my family wich is good but I dont want a mean dog that is not how we raise animals, we have tried being stern, a shoulder harness, taking all her toys away, crating her when people come over . She is red hound and not sure what else to do does the water and lemon or vinegar work people say take her to training I have been reading up on that and some times that makes it worse she is not aggressive all the time just at certain people and no I cant tell those people not to over any ideas would help she is a very smart dog she obeys and is very gentle otherwise please any ideas are welcome and will try anything she already has one strike she nipped a friend and she turned it in she is lic and tagged and fixed even before I got turned in.
Answers:It sounds like she needs lots more socialization. She is still very young. Take her to lots of pet friendly places (pet stores, parks) and get lots of people to come to your house, too. Obedience classes will help, also.

OMG! already bit someone? If you can teach your dog to wait to be invited before intering a room this is GREAT. For example when you go in the bedroom, FIRMLY tell the dog NO. and to sit. when she does then reward her by sayi9ng come and give her pets/treats. If your dog wants to follow any and all requests for extra attention this will work. If not... the kennel will be the best bet until you see if the dog likes the person. Smetimes it's their cologn, cellphone with anoise we can't here, or your inner feelings for the visitor. BUT kepp the dog/ people safe is the main goal.
