Why does my dog have breathing attacks2007-11-25 2:56:06

He does not do it all the time just ones in awhile Its like he has Asthma.What could this be?

Answers:

It could be asthma. It could also be anxiety attacks. The only real way to find out is to take him to a vetinarian. You should do so to ascertain why it happens and to determine what you can do to prevent it, as it adds stress to your dog and may shorten his lifespan.

Remember that many of the same conditions and diseases people get dogs are also susceptible to getting. It could be something as simple as allergies, as well. Try to recall when the attacks began and if there were any major changes in yours or his lifestyle at that time. Any details you can give your vetinarian can help assist with the diagnosis.

most small breeds do this. Its completley normal. I have an imperial shi-tsu and she does this to when she gets exited. When she does this I just pick her up an dtry to help her calm down. Its normal though, so don't worry about it.

Hello...breathing in small dogs is like this, as is snoring & yes animals do get allergys ( tho they get diagnosed by a vet if so ) IF you feel it is something bad or wrong - illness...TIME FOR A VET..Take Care :)

i have a tea cup when she gets excited she also has a hard time breathing it is normal for small dogs yorkies do the samething

If it sounds like snorting then he is probably clearing snot out of his nose especially if he has allergies! My little chihuahua does it all the time!
