Why does my dog not like little girls2007-11-25 2:56:10

HE is great with boys but just hates any little girl. I have had him since he was 4 weeks old. How do I get him to stop? My best friend has two boys and one girl. Everytime she comes around he starts growling and chasing her,but never bothers the boys.

Answers:

does the dog have a toy that he chews on?

one that might look like, and/or be the same color as the girl's stuffed animal?

does the dog remember someone taking her stuffed animal away from him?

just a thought.

Does she scream? Some little girls just have to scream when they play, and this high pitched sound my irritate the dog's hearing. It does mine.

If not, consult with someone at a store like Petsmart where they have dog trainers, etc. They may be able to give you a hint. Good luck.

she might have been mean to him. Usually dogs don't favor a sex unless there has been abuse. But it only takes once

it probably isn't JUST b/c she's a little girl... maybe she did something mean to him or just gives the dog bad vibes. dogs are supposably good judges of character...

If she is the only little girl that the dog does not like, then she may have done something to the dog when it was a puppy. It may have not been anything major, just a tug on the tail or got in its face. I have a lab that does not like children except for my own. When she was a puppy, the neighborhood kids threw rocks and things at her. If tisi is true, then the dog may have generalized this to all little girls, if she is not the only one.
