Why does my female mixed black lab bite at mine and my daughters wrist and not my husbands
It's my daughters dog but raising her was taken over by my husband. The dog is female and yea yea I know shes possesive of him, yea when I'm around, but she does this to all the women that come to my house. She's just past a year old so the puppy should be heading out by now.
Answers:Hate to say it but Labs are sexist. She sees him as the dominate male of the pack and is viewing the rest of you as equals. Something to try is putting her on all fours with one hand on her shoulders and one on her back. Push down a little (not hard). Do this when she is showing signs of dominance like jumping. To get her to stop biting you. encourage her to bite her toys. Don't make too big a deal about it because it might turn into a fun game for her. Give a yelp when she nibbles at you. Yes a yelp. Yelping is how the rest of her litter showed her that she was playing to rough. Once she has stopped give her a treat. Positive reinforcement training will help out a lot
Because you have all allowed her to be higher than women in the pack order. You must get control of this before she gets control of you! She thinks your husband is the leader, then it is her, and then everyone else!
She probably tends to think of herself as the head female dog...
You need to assert yourself as taking that posistion.
like now. as you read this you should stand over her, and make her be submissive.
