It can be caused from several reasons which include needing more salt in their food, a nervous habit or they are trying to lick different tastes in order to vomit. This is the info I received for the same problem. My dog licks like crazy, especially after I wash my face and put lotion on it or my legs or after I've just gotten out of the shower. It's crazy. I was told to put a little salt in his food as he may be deficient of it.
